Tom Miller,
Electric Utility Director |
Tom Miller is the Electric Utility Director
for the City of Shasta Lake and oversees the municipal’s
electric utility enterprise.
Tom works with the City Manager and City
Council to establish and carry out the plans, policies and
annual budgets of the City’s electric utility. Also, Tom manages
resource procurement working with the City of Redding, Western
Area Power Administration, and Shell Energy North America. He
is responsible for system reliability and compliance with the
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, North American Electric
Reliability Corporation, Western Electricity Coordinating
Council, and the California Energy Commission regulatory
standards. His favorite part of the day is working with staff
to provide safe, dependable, affordable, and environmentally
responsible energy services to the City’s patrons.
Mr. Miller has over 20 years experience in
retail electric distribution working for smaller rural electric
cooperatives in Iowa. He has a variety of work experience
serving as chief executive officer, assistant manager,
administrative and customer service manager, and director of
economic development. Tom has created an economic development
corporation, an internet service provider company, and assisted
starting an electrical consulting engineering firm. He has
served on a variety of industry and community boards holding
leadership positions. A favorite accomplishment is using tax
increment financing to develop a rural residential housing
subdivision including a low to moderate income housing
component.
Tom earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from
Central College, Pella, Iowa, double majoring in systems and
business management. Tom is a native son of California. |
